Noel Koran, General Director

In an international theatrical career that spans over forty years, Noel has established himself as a stage director, educator and administrator with extensive credentials in opera, operetta and Shakespeare. He has directed productions by such diverse composers and playwrights as Britten, Lehar, Mozart, Puccini, Shakespeare, Smetana, Tchaikovsky and Verdi. Prior to becoming a stage director he appeared on the stage more than 1,000 times in a variety of theatrical and musical genres that include opera, operetta and musicals, as well as Shakespeare, Restoration Comedy, French Farce, 19th Century Melodrama, 20th Century Naturalistic Drama and Theatre of the Absurd. Prior to coming to coming to Tacoma Opera, Noel led opera and theater training programs at the University of Washington, Southern Oregon University, Northwestern University, and Ohio State University

Shauna Robinson, Artistic Administrator

Shauna became the Artistic Administrator for Tacoma Opera in May, 2019 after working in production for the company during its 2018-2019 season. She received her Master of Arts Leadership and Administration degree from Colorado State University in 2017 and her Bachelor of Music degree with a vocal concentration from Vanderbilt University in 2010. Before moving to Washington, Shauna has enjoyed working in both the arts and nonprofit sectors in various capacities. She has taught voice and piano privately, as well as developed a high school and college level music program at a top Colorado charter school for which she taught piano lab, choir and symphonic orchestra classes for two years. In the years to come, Shauna hopes to bring new vision and a fresh perspective to Tacoma Opera’s rich history and tradition of providing high quality opera to the Puget Sound area.

Theresa Kors, Production Manager

Theresa graduated from Wesleyan College in 2017 with a BA in Theatre with a focus on management. She received the senior departmental award and as president of theatre club was recognized with the Community Philanthropic Award from student government for her role in producing, What You don’t Know a play spreading awareness about mental health. Following graduation she traveled to New Mexico for her first ever apprenticeship program at the Santa Fe Opera in the Stage Operations Department. There she worked with world class designers and artists taking a bow on stage for her role in moving scenery in the world premiere of the Grammy Award Winning Opera The (R)evolution of Steve Jobs. She ended the summer receiving the Lawrence Reeling Award given only to the top apprentices of each department. Opera was a field in live performance Theresa had never touched and she was hooked right away. She’s spent the last three summers in Santa Fe as an apprentice, a production assistant, and this past summer as show operations supervisor. She could not be more excited to bring back all the skills, tips and tricks she’s learned and apply them to Tacoma Opera. She hopes to bring a new spice to Tacoma Opera’s
