In 1981, Peter Brook, the renowned British stage director, adapted Bizet's famous opera and stripped it to its essential dramatic core. The famous 90 minute production, originally presented at a small rundown theater in Paris, created a sensation in the world of opera and changed the way opera was perceived by the general public. Doing away with the artifice and grandiosity so prevalent in conventional opera, Brook created a realistic work that strikes at the senses and clutches at the heart. Watch Carmen and Don Jose challenge each other in an ultimate game of seduction, love and death. Feel the passion, experience the drama and grasp the core essence of Bizet's unforgettable masterpiece as never before.
